Each level contains 6 study units with instructions in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Arabic and Turkish. The study units will introduce you to new vocabulary and new grammar rules placed within a real context using, among other things, high quality videos. We will then help you practice what you've learned with interactive exercises that include speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Before you begin your online English lessons, we'll invite you to take our English test. This will accurately gauge your proficiency level, so we can recommend which of the 16 levels you should start from. Alternatively, you can choose a level or course yourself at any time. Every time you complete a level, you'll receive a diploma certified by EF English Live to prove your achievement. To ensure your results are recognised globally, we've aligned each stage of our course with the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):

• Levels 1 - 3 are for beginners (CEFR A1)

• 4 - 6 are for elementary students (CEFR A2)

• 7 - 9 are for intermediate (CEFR B1)

• 10 - 12 for upper intermediate (CEFR B2)

• 13 - 15 for advanced (CEFR C1)

• Level 16 is for upper advanced students (CEFR C2).

There's no fixed answer to this, as every student learns at their own pace. As a guide, you should expect each unit to take a minimum of 3 to 4 hours to complete. Every level contains six units, so you are likely to need 18 to 24 hours to complete a level and earn your English certificate. Our school is designed to fit with your life, so you can make progress whenever you have time to study and get the results you're aiming for.

Every time you complete one of the 16 levels within our online English school, you'll receive a diploma certified by EF English Live to prove your achievement. Plus, if you complete a level within our Business English course, you'll receive a certificate for that too. We store your certificates securely online so that you can access them whenever you need to prove your skills to potential employers, academic institutions or friends and family.

In addition to the live lessons with native speaking Pro Teachers, our innovative Advanced Speech Recognition (ASR) software will evaluate your pronunciation, just like a real tutor. You will then receive feedback after each unit to make sure you are confident enough in your abilities before advancing to the next unit. Once you have completed the 6 units of your current level, you will earn a certificate and you can proceed to the next level to further improve your language skills.

The best English certification depends on your goals. If you're looking to apply to the university of your dreams, we advise you to check which English certifications are accepted by the university; most likely it will be TOEFL and IELTS, but they are not the only ones. If it is a question of applying for work abroad, then the TOEIC might be right for you.
